How to Breed Cows
To Breed Cows, a farmer must have a Dairy Farm. The Dairy Farm must contain at least 1 Bull and 1 Cow. Having more of one color or type of cow will increase the chance of a Baby Calf of that color being found. When milk is collected from a dairy farm, the farmer will be alerted if a Baby Calf was born. Each Baby Calf cannot be kept by the farmer, but becomes available for a farmer's neighbor to adopt. There are 10 calves available per link when found from a dairy farm and the links are good for 8-12 hours. (This info changes quickly so please feel free to let me know if it needs updated)
At this time, you can only get one calf per day. So, using a seeder cow is not really necessary unless you just need to harvest quickly. Whatever % cow you put in an empty dairy barn is what % your dairy barn will become. So if you put in a cow at 96%, your dairy will show 96% ready. Also, many people say if you want a certain type of calf, only insert that particular cow in the barn. The more you have, the better, but one will work. It may not work every day, but it will work.
A seeder cow is a cow outside of the barn that is used to "ready" a barn quickly by emptying the barn and inserting a cow or horse that has a high % of readiness. In the stable, a horse only needs to be 34% or higher. Dairy barns will reflect the % of your seeder cow, so the higher % ready the better.
Using farmhands will affect your ability to have seeders since when using a farmhand everything becomes ready at the same time from then on. If you are using seeders for your horse stable try to keep your horses at varying % readiness. See the page on How to Breed Horses for more info ;)
If you want to save your calves to give to specific people, you can do that. Each link is good for 10 calves, but a person can only take 1 each. Links are good for 8-12 hours in most cases. (Calves from the nursery only have 5 per link, not 10) When the calf pops up - click share. Do NOT click publish yet. Look near the bottom next to post, you should see a pad lock. Click on that pad lock and a drop down menu pops up, select customize. A new pop up appears asking which group of people you would like this post to be visible to, select "Only me", and then publish
Your Farmville post will be on your wall on your profile. There you should be able to see the post.
